Free Grounds Acts

Here are a few short articles on our grounds acts here at the Contra Costa Fair for 2010!

The Clown of Many Face

Linda is one of the finest, funniest female clowns in America. She is the "Clown of Many Faces" that brings a host of Clown Characters with costumes and props to provide a unique experience every time she performs. What does that mean? That she has four characters -- "PJ" the total school girl nerd: "Shylo" the high energy cute one (at least she thinks so!), "Flo" the diner waitress with pizzazz, and "Gladys Pumpernickel" the forever cleaning Carol Burnett type mime. And, YES! THEY ARE ALL LINDA!

Wildlife of the World

Pacific Animal Productions’ wildlife exhibit and shows “Children's Rainforest” is trekking its way from sunny southern California to the beautiful Contra Costa County Fair this summer. This wildlife show will feature many interesting and remarkable animals from around the world. Tropical birds, playful monkeys, massive reptiles, and several other multi legged creepy crawlers will make an impacting appearance. Animal handler Karla Majewski and her creature teachers will let you get up close and personal with the lovable and the huggable. After the show, Karla and one of the animal stars will be available for questions and answers. There will also be a Discovery Area loaded with hands-on animal artifacts. This show is filled with audience participation. Have your cameras ready and bring the entire family.

Skip Banks-The Balloon Man

The only act with a funny back guarentee! If you have seen an NBA half time show, then chances are you have seen Skip Banks. If you like Saturday Night  Live, then you will like Skip Banks. If you want to have a good time, you must see Skip Banks. He'll show you a whole new meaning to Burning Rubber!

Fables of the West

Get ready to ride with the biggest little cowboys on the Old West trail. If you’re coming to the fair in 2010, you’re sure to get a ‘kick’ from the Fables Of The West gang and their trusty steeds, as they head out on the 2010 ‘Trail Of Tales’ Tour. The cowboy comedy team (often referred to as ‘the little cowboys on the little horses’) has, in just nine years time, performed at over 500 fairs and events (in their entirety) from Alaska to Florida to Texas to their home state of California.

Wild About Monkeys

Combining the rare skills of excellent trainers and the incredible instincts of the wild as well as domestic animals with which they have become friends, Kevin and Martina will delight and amaze their audience with fun, education and great entertainment for the whole family. “Wild about Monkeys” is the only traveling animal exhibition that features trained baboons. The Mandrill baboon is the only one of his kind to be safely and humanely handled on stage today.

Cook's Pig Racing

Cook's Racing Pig Racing is one of the most interactive shows in the Fair business. Their free betting allows each spectator to have a stake in the race. Everyone is offered a free numbered color ticket. After each race the Cook's have a drawing from the winning tickets for a Cook's Pig Racing t-shirt. This is an animal attraction that got its start at the 1986 California State Fair. Still going strong and coming up on their 23rd year, this show has preformed at more than 300 events throughout the West.
